If you frequent this site, you probably know that the morbidly obese pay for their gluttony in multiple ways. We all know that fat isn’t attractive, regardless of what hashtag fatties are promoting this week. We also know that it isn’t healthy, there is a constant stream of articles linking obesity to cancer, diabetes, and other conditions. Yes they have to pay more for the tarps they use to cover their fupa and make up to contour their face into something that resembles a human being. Anyone with half a brain can see that Obesity is a very costly and miserable lifestyle, one that isn’t worth living. Now some cities are really starting to feel the burden of these gluttonous fupa freaks on their shoulders, and the rest of us are getting stuck with the bill.
As American waistbands continue to expand, researchers and policymakers struggle to figure out just how much the ongoing obesity epidemic is going to cost us. There are the direct medical expenses of managing the plethora of obesity-related diseases including Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, arthritis, and the numerous related cancers, among others. Then there are the indirect costs: lost productivity, more illness, and even extra infrastructure to handle the load of lard.

In 2016 Obesity related medical expenses cost nearly half a billion dollars in Memphis alone. That’s more than half of the cities education budge. This helped bring the state of Tennessee’s obesity related expenses to well over 2 billion dollars, roughly 6% of the states entire budget. With obesity rates continuing to climb and fat acceptance convincing people to just give up on living like a human being it won’t be long before obesity related costs become a major line item in budgets accross the nation.

In West Virginia medical costs for the morbidly obese went over 2 billion and the indirect costs bring that number to nearly 8 billion dollars a year, and that’s just the cost to a single state! It gets exponentially worse when you look at the costs on a federal level.

A 2016 analysis by the University of Washington found that the annual medical spending attributed to obesity nationally was almost $150 billion, which is more than four times the federal budget for foreign aid & almost enough to fund the entire U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and this number isn’t getting smaller anytime soon.

The current costs for medical expenses alone tallies up to nearly $500 per American annually regardless of your waistline, which is inexcusable! If you want to destroy your body and be an unlovable mess of a human, that’s on you but don’t expect the rest of us to foot the bill when diabetes takes your foot.
