The fat acceptance movement likes to focus on a few key things two of which are the morality of food and health. They will say that there is nothing wrong with their daily meals looking like a kids haul from a night of trick or treating. I thought we all learned proper eating habits when we were children, but if that were true we wouldn’t be facing the obesity epidemic we have today…

Fat activists will also say that health isnt a moral issue, and this one is a little more complicated. We all get sick, and sometimes we get hurt. These rare instances are not the same as ignoring medical science and then saying there is nothing wrong with having an easily preventable disease, like diabetes because sometimes thin people get diabetes!

With obesity linked to cancers, diabetes, cardiac issues, respiratory issues, and arthritis, one would think you can’t find a way to argue against how miserable a life of obesity is. Well you would be wrong!
Yep it’s one of our favorite fat logic magicians here to tell us that it’s not the obese that are on 3+ medications for the rest of their life that are not a huge drain on our medical facilities. Nope it’s the athletes and physically active people of the world!
This is a common tactic of Ali’s where she tries to make it seem like the occasional ache and sore muscle is somehow equal to having saddled your body with multiple debilitating conditions. As if to say look we all have different lives and our chosen activities put a strain on our doctors, nurses, and hospitals.
However a quick Google search shows that obesity and obesity related conditions are nearly 25% of our medical expenses. Obesity is second only to smoking in terms of health risks. With roughly a third of a million people dying to it every year! In 2013 only 54 people died skiing out of an estimated 51 million. Yes we have more obese people die in a year than people go skiing. Marathons have shown a mortality risk of less than .001%! Yet somehow Ali wants us to believe that these activities are just as bad as someone who can’t survive without a scooter and an oxygen tank!
Her last statement is infers that society is basically saying that the obese cost too much to live. As if there is some secret shadow council killing the obese off, when the reality is its their own horrific habits.
