Fatty Alex Cranz Proves That Fatties Just Dont Know Fitness

Welcome back! I hope everyone’s summer was great, lots of out door activities and enjoying a hard earned fit body at the beach. Now that we are well into fall I figured its time to get back into the swing of things and wouldn’t you know it I ran smack dab into a blogging fatty that shows just why fatties shouldn’t comment on anything regarding fitness.

Alex Cranz is a blogger at Gizmodo and recently did a video review pitting the new Fitbit Ionic against Apple Watch 3.  As someone who is in the market for a new fitness tracker I figured I would check this video out to see how Fitbit’s newest tracker holds up. As soon as the video started I realized that this would not be a good review.

Now I know what you’re thinking, maybe she’s starting to get in shape, maybe she has lost a lot of weight and wants to show how serious she is about fitness! The video review seems to factor important features for a fitness tracker like accuracy and battery life as well as any extra features.

So far so good, I mean yeah it doesn’t seem like she’s really into fitness but maybe she can still give a fair review considering that two of these metrics are extremely important for anyone who is really serious about tracking their activity, even if the reviewer in question would rather work on Gyros  than the gym.

So far the Fitbit Ionic is far more accurate as it perfectly matches the chest strap heart rate monitor that Alex used to gauge accuracy.

The Apple Watch never quite reaches the same level of excellence for fitness tracking as the Fitbit Ionic. Nowhere is that more obvious than in how each device tracks heart rate.

The Fitbit Ionic is also vastly superior when it comes to its battery life, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since it’s a smartwatch designed around fitness first and doesn’t have the myriad of apps that the apple ecosystem does.

The Apple Watch, which has cellular service and a lot more apps to poll for notifications, lasted only a day on average. Instead of charging it at work once a week I charged it every night on my bedside table as I hopped in the shower (even though it is water-resistant). That’s a huge discrepancy between the two, and by the battery results alone the Fitbit Ionic is the superior choice for people who want a reliable device that just lives on their wrist.

So it should come as no surprise that the #1 name in fitness trackers easily trounces apple’s smart watch in the areas that matter most for fitness, and to be honest a 6 day battery life is a huge bonus to anyone looking into wearable tech. So maybe I was wrong, maybe a fatty can actually look at a fitness device and see it for its charms as an accurate tool for measuring your daily exercise. A device that can go for days without a charge so you never need to worry about your battery life before hitting the gym or getting in a few miles of running. Could it be I was wrong? Should I quickly go back up to the top and edit this entire post?  It seems obvious that even this fatty would admit that with a clear victory in 66% of the metrics used to rate these two products the Fitbit is the superior fitness smart watch! Right!?

Nope! The Apple Watch 3 wins because it “feels like it’s from the future”, the user can play with apps and text through it.  Two features that don’t really matter when it comes to fitness, and despite fitness itself taking up an entire third of the review metrics it simply isn’t enough…for someone who is obviously not interested in fitness at all.

While the review in question doesn’t state its specifically for fitness watch, probably because Alex knew she wouldn’t be taken seriously. The comments section in the articles tears her apart for comparing two devices that don’t really belong going upo against each other. The readers are quick to point out factors she glossed over like price, and being about to use the Fitbit Ionic on an iPhone or an Android device. I probably should mention that she already wrote a rather scathing piece about how much she doesn’t like the Fitbit Ionic recently so whats the point?

Does the idea of having a device to tell a fatty how lazy they are scare her? Does she hate the idea of a watch pointing out her racing heart rate after a flight of stairs? Only Alex knows for sure what her deal is, but the one thing we can all agree is that this review shows a lazy and inactive fatty has no place reviewing fitness products.
