Wow talk about anti climatic! Yesterday I posted about how a certain fat activist’s fit bit was posting her “activity” to twitter. To be honest I was appalled at how little Mazzie moves on a daily basis. I have never really tracked my movement much but I knew walking a mile or less in a day was an alarming level of laziness.
So yesterday I figured just by going to work and doing my normal day to day I could hit about 3 miles by lunch time. This would give me 3 miles in 8 hours compared to her 3 miles in 72 hours. Could I be 9 times more active than the average fat activist before lunch? Let’s find out!
I woke up at 6 am, but I didn’t get out of bed until 6:20. After going through the morning rituals I checked the pedometer on my Samsung smart watch which clocked in at a paltry 0.1 miles. I wasn’t worried as I had just tied my shoes and hadn’t stepped outside yet. I took the stairs down and walked out of the front door, I was shocked to see I had already done .36 of a mile and I had only just made it outside my door!
I started off on my ~10-15 minute walk to the train as I always do and arrive at the platform with a few minutes to spare. While waiting I snapped another shot to see how far I had walked.
1.41 miles! That’s almost up there with Mazzie’s busiest days and all I did was walk to the train! Note how the watch congratulates me on a healthy pace! I tend to move briskly in the colder months.
After transferring to another train I’m off to get coffee before I really start my day, the walk to 7/11 brings me to just short of 2 miles. I will certainly hit my goal of 3 just by getting lunch today!
Coffee in hand I walk into work ready to start the day! After brief walk up the stairs I surpassed Mazzie’s activity for 3 days and it’s 9:38 A.M. On my feet for a mere 3 hours and I had already done nearly 110% of her “activity” in roughly 4% of the time.
Now I know some of you may be thinking this isn’t special, I just walked to the train grabbed coffee and opted to take the stairs, and you are right. These basic lifestyle choices are the very things a fat activist avoids at all costs. I’ve passionately called these fatties out on their bullshit for a long time now and this it the experiment just really drive the message home. It’s not genetics, or feminism or “impossible” standards. It’s getting off your ass and doing more than bare minimum.
